August Workshops
Welding 1
With Gary Humphreys and Mason Hurley
Dates: August 11th & 12th
Time: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Fee: $150
In this beginners’ workshop students will spend the first day being introduced to oxy-acetylene welding, heating and bending. For the purpose of expediency MIG welding will be the primary focus but workshops can be customized. Students will be led through health and safety instruction and then will practice the basic techniques on scrap metal provided.
With these skills, students will spend the second day constructing a metal piece of their own creation. Students should come with ideas or sketches of work they are interested in fabricating. If more time is needed to complete projects, students may use the welding facilities the following week, working independently for $40/day.
Long sleeved cotton shirts, thick cotton or denim long pants and leather boots are required. Students should bring pencil and paper to sketch out ideas and take notes.

Forging Organic Elements
With Ron Bakerian
Date: August 11th & 12th
Time: 9:30 am – 4:30 pm
Fee: $150
In this workshop students will learn forging tools and techniques needed for creating organic shapes with emphasis on leaves and branches. Students will have time to create a piece of their own with the techniques learned.
Levels: All
Age: 14+ Students under the age of 14 must have parental supervision.
Printmaking Without a Press

Date: August 11th & 12th
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Fee: $100
Students will learn a new, unconventional process to printmaking. In this class, students create embossed prints by using a truck as the press.
