Salem Art Works hosts a diverse selection of events with talented artists and performers each year. To help fulfill our mission, we bring great food, music and art to the Washington County community. All events are open to the public.
Annual Spring Work Party
Dates: May 11th – 13th
Help SAW ready the grounds and kick off our season during our Annual Spring Work Party. We need your assistance cleaning, unpacking, painting and doing all the other little things to prepare SAW for another great summer. A delicious barbeque and live music will take place on Saturday night.
All volunteers receive lodging, good food and a good time!*
Volunteer for 8 hours or more and receive a 2012 SAW Membership. See the “SAW Membership” page for full membership details.

Live Music & Pizza Under the Tent
Dates: June 2nd, July 7th, August 4th, September 1st
Time: 6 pm – 10 pm
Fee: $10
SAW invites the entire community to its Live Music & Pizza Under the Tent series. Eat freshly baked pizza and enjoy the sounds of homegrown Washington County musicians.
Reality of Placement
Date: Saturday, July 7th
Time: Dinner 5 pm – 7 pm; Dance 7 pm – 11 pm
Fee: $10
Please join us for a night of traditional South American food, culture, music, and art. In conjunction with the artist reception for Reality of Placement, curated by Alexis Mendoza, the evening will be a celebration of the rich heritage of a quiet culture and a vital part of our local farming community. Reality of Placement brings together 21 South American born artists that inhabit the worlds beyond political borders and as Mendoza states, “addresses issues such as migration and exile”. The meal will be sourced from local farms and prepared by local farmers.
Salem Area Chamber of Commerce: HarvestFest
Date: Saturday, September 15th
An annual Salem Area Chamber of Commerce festival highlighting the best local produce and crafts. HarvestFest is a day-long event with dozens of vendors, followed by a seasonal dinner with locally sourced food and barn dance.

SAWFest: Salem Art Works Music Festival
Our annual music festival brings together regional bands to perform outside at SAW. Vendors, food, drinks and free camping available. For a full lineup, please visit SAW’s website.
Open Studios
Dates: Wednesday, July 11th & September 19th
Time: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Fee: Free
Executive Director Anthony Cafritz and landscape painter Harry Orlyk will lead an open forum discussion during critiques at SAW. Meet current resident artists and discuss their artistic process and thinking.
